Wine & Whiskey: Everything For You
D (29)
The only woman Nick’s ever loved wears his ring and carries his baby. All the dreams he never thought possible have finally come true. Because of Shae. His sweet angel gives him everything he’s ever wanted.
To be together, they’ve fought against their careers, her friends, and the demons from their pasts. Yet, nothing and no one has ever been able to sever the connection between them. After finding their way back to each other, Shae believes in Nick and his love for her. Accepting her absolute faith in him, Nick’s finally learned to trust himself. Their commitment to each other unwavering and complete.
Yet, the perfect life remains just out of reach. Nick and Shae face the biggest challenge threatening their relationship. He’ll destroy any man who tries to steal the happiness she deserves. Can their love survive Nick’s plan to ensure Shae’s always safe?
Scarlet crawls up her cheeks, matching the lava racing through his veins to his groin at her smirk. “Are you making fun of me now?”
“Nope. Just admiring the view. What man doesn’t like to see his woman barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen?”
The sponge bounces off his chest along with her bubbly laughter. “How come I’m just finding out now that you’re a chauvinist?”
He gives her an exaggerated frown, contrasting with the smile twitching on her sweet lips. “You told me I was charming.”
“I think I said cocky.”
“Confident.”
Her eyes dance, her face glowing from the mischief playing between them. Finally, her genuine personality shines through completely. Just for him. “Or was it slick?”
“Well-spoken.”
“Bossy.”
“Driven.”
She shakes her head. “You have an answer for everything, don’t you?”
“Yeah.” He palms the countertop on each side of her, caging her in before she can even think about trying to get away. Desire burns in her gaze, boring into his, almost more than he can bear to keep from ravishing her.
“I go after what I want, and I always make it mine.”
“I have no idea what I want…” Sweet, strawberry breaths warm his skin as she eliminates the space between them and whispers against his lips, “Except for you.”
Fuck. No more games. She’s his. His mouth crashes against hers, pouring every drop of desire into her breathless moan, reminding her she owns every part of him. Urgent fingers tug on his shirt before slipping underneath the fabric. Fireworks explode across his skin at her burning touch, gliding up his back, drawing him closer.
D (28)
Nikki writes contemporary romantic thrillers and admits to a weakness for alpha males and bad boys, especially ones who can’t live without the strong women they love.
She spends more time in her characters’ lives than her own. But, when she’s in the real world, her passions include reading, wine appreciating, running, and spending time with her husband and daughter.

***Book Blitz*** Nora & Kettle by Lauren Nicolle Taylor

Nora & Kettle
Lauren Nicolle Taylor
Published by: Clean Teen Publishing
Publication date: February 29th 2016
Genres: Historical, Young Adult
What if Peter Pan was a homeless kid just trying to survive, and Wendy flew away for a really good reason?
Seventeen-year-old Kettle has had his share of adversity. As an orphaned Japanese American struggling to make a life in the aftermath of an event in history not often referred to—the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II and the removal of children from orphanages for having “one drop of Japanese blood in them”—things are finally looking up. He has his hideout in an abandoned subway tunnel, a job, and his gang of Lost Boys.
Desperate to run away, the world outside her oppressive brownstone calls to naïve, eighteen-year-old Nora—the privileged daughter of a controlling and violent civil rights lawyer who is building a compensation case for the interned Japanese Americans. But she is trapped, enduring abuse to protect her younger sister Frankie and wishing on the stars every night for things to change.
For months, they’ve lived side by side, their paths crossing yet never meeting. But when Nora is nearly killed and her sister taken away, their worlds collide as Kettle, grief stricken at the loss of a friend, angrily pulls Nora from her window.
In her honeyed eyes, Kettle sees sadness and suffering. In his, Nora sees the chance to take to the window and fly away.
Set in 1953, NORA AND KETTLE explores the collision of two teenagers facing extraordinary hardship. Their meeting is inevitable, devastating, and ultimately healing. Their stories, a collection of events, are each on their own harmless. But together, one after the other, they change the world.
EXCERPT:
I snort, push my sleeves up, and lean back on my forearms. She watches me, her eyes on my bare skin, and I wonder what she’s thinking. “Dances. Really? What’s to miss?” My experience with dances was one forced event in the camps where we watched the grownups awkwardly shift in lines to scratchy music. It didn’t look very enjoyable.
She releases the button she’s been playing with and smirks. “Says someone who’s clearly never been to one.”
“How do you know that?” I say, raising an eyebrow and touching my chest, mock offended.
She laughs. It’s starlight in a jar. I blink slowly. “Oh, I can tell just by looking at you, the way you move. You,” she says, pointing at me accusingly. “Can’t dance.”
The candlelight twinkles like it’s chuckling at me. “I can dance,” I say, not sure why I’m lying to defend myself. I’ve never danced in my life.

She stands up and beckons me with her finger, and I think there’s something wrong with my heart. It’s hurting… but the pain feels good.

She looks like a pirate’s cabin boy, shirt billowing around her small waist, ill-fitting pants rolled over at her hips to stop them from falling down. She points her bare foot at me. “Prove it!”
Shit!
I cough and stand nervously. I don’t know what to do with my hands, so I put them behind my back. She giggles. Touches me. Runs her fingers lightly down my arms until she finds my hands. She grasps my wrists and I gulp as she places one on the small dip between her hips and her ribs, extending the other out like the bow of a boat. Her hand in mine.
I follow her small steps and we wind in circles, avoiding the clumps of debris, painting patterns in the dust.
I stare at my socks and her narrow bare feet, listening to the swish of them across the dirt. “You know, this is pretty weird without music,” I mutter, looking up for a moment and suddenly losing my balance.
She exhales and brings us back to equilibrium. She starts humming softly. It’s a song I’ve heard before, but I pretend it’s the first time. Her voice is sweet, cracked and croaky, but in tune as she gazes at the ground and leads us up and down the back of the tunnel.
This moment is killing me. I don’t want it, but I do. Because I know it won’t be enough and it’s all I’ll get.
The end of the song is coming. It rises and rises and then softly peters out. We look at each other, understanding that something is changing between us, and we have to decide whether to let it. Please, let it.
She sings the last few bars. “And if you sing this melody, you’ll be pretending just like me. The world is mine. It can be yours, my friend. So why don’t you pretend?”
Her voice is like the dust of a comet’s tail. Full of a thousand things I don’t understand but want to.
She stops and starts to step away. She’s so fragile. Not on the outside. On the outside, her body is strong, tougher than it should have to be. It’s inside that’s very breakable. I’m scared to touch her, but I don’t want to avoid touching her because of what she’s been through. That seems worse.
So I do it, because I want to and I don’t think she doesn’t want me to. Her breath catches as I pull her closer. I just want to press my cheek to hers, feel her skin against mine. There is no music, just the rhythm of two barely functioning hearts trying to reach each other through miles of scar tissue.
She presses her ear to my chest and listens, then she pulls back to meet my eyes, her expression a mixture of confusion and comfort. She breathes out, her lips not wanting to close but not wanting to speak. She settles on a nervous smile and puts her arms around my neck. I inhale and look up at the ceiling, counting the stars I know are up there somewhere, and then rest my cheek in her hair.
I don’t know how she is here. I don’t know when she’ll disappear.
We sway back and forth, and it feels like we might break. That we will break if we step apart from each other.
I can’t let her go.
I think I love dancing.

***Book Tour And Review*** Soulless by T.m Frazier

Soulless (King, #4)Soulless by T.M. Frazier

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

::..Reviewed for Red's Midnight Readers..::
I was given an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

The finale to Bear and Thia's epic love story.
And what an epic finale it is!

I have said this before and i will say it again! After King, i thought nobody would make me feel the electric chills that Brantley King did and then we read Bear's story and i realized i was wrong! Bear is something else. Dare i say it?? He's better! He's rough, he's angry and he is sinfully sexy. What more could you possibly need?

T.M Frazier has out done herself again and provided us with everything we have to come to expect from this series. It's raw, gritty, dark and full of passion.
After finishing Lawless, i couldn't wait to dive into the conclusion of Bear and Thia's story. So when it landed on my kindle, i couldn't start it quick enough. It had me hooked from the very first page, with lots of twists and turns that you don't see coming.

Soulless is one of those books that you find yourself lost in time! So engrossed that before you know it, time has passed you by and you didn't even realize. Once i had started, i found i couldn't put it down until i had soaked up every last word

It doesn't matter what i write, it will never be enough to convey how awesome this story is! If you have enjoyed the journey so far you will, without a doubt LOVE Soulless and if you have started this amazing story well? What are you waiting for?

Another 5 star T.M Frazier read!

SOULLESS IS LIVE!

PROLOGUE
I was mad at the world, at the whiskey for not being strong enough, at the drugs for not lasting long enough, at the fucking whores I banged for not getting me off when it was my fault my dick was fucking useless after a bucket of fucking blow. I went so far as to be pissed at random people on the street for laughing or smiling when I felt like I’d never be able to smile or laugh again.
How dare they?
How fucking dare they be move on with their lives like my friend hadn’t just died.
I was on the verge of losing what little sanity I had left when I rode out of Logan's Beach and set off to find a place, or places, where I could numb myself against the feelings that followed me from town to town, cheap motel to cheap motel, girl to girl, high to fucking high.
Then, this pink haired girl from the past came barreling into my life and it was like for the first time, I’d found a purpose. A real genuine purpose and not just some shit Chop spewed out as orders that I and every other member of the Beach Bastards took as bible, but a true reason to live again.
To WANT to live again.
Someone to live for.
Ti was my chance at some sort of real happiness when Lord fucking knows I had no idea what that really was before her. The only glimpses of real genuine happiness I'd ever had came courtesy of Preppy, King, and of course Grace. Like when King tattooed us for the first time and we loved them, even though they were crooked and downright fucking awful. Like when Grace made me my very first birthday cake. Like the time King Prep and I sat at the top of the water tower and thought the world was ours to take.
Because at that time, it was.
Then there was Ti and my new happiness became the first time I saw her smile. The first time I kissed her. The first time I tasted her pussy by the fire. The first time she let me inside of her, shamelessly pushing through her virginity in a frantic need to make her mine.
Because that's what she was.
That's what she would always be.
And I will kill every motherfucker who dares to try and take her from me.
Mine.

Prologue

“Dreams are not just something you aspire to in an alternative life; they can become a reality. There is one person controlling your dream, Autumn. It’s time to awaken your beautiful soul, and take one step after another, until one day, you’ll find you’ve travelled a journey you had no idea you were capable of. Even the small steps matter.”

I had to remember Mary’s words. I was doing the right thing. I was sure. Definitely. I allowed my eyes to travel around the insanely huge living area of Greyston Manor. A place I should consider as my home but a building I could only look at with empty eyes.

“Hello, Angel. I came to see if the rumours were true.” A biting chill instantly came over me at the recognition of a voice and that name, which I hadn’t heard in two years. I twisted my suddenly tense body and felt the raw hatred flow through my veins at the man standing before me. My hands immediately wrapped around each other, creating a tiny shield that the likes of Brent McCann could destroy with just one look. His gaze moved to my one solitary suitcase near the door, before settling his attention back on me. “You’re doing it? You’re actually leaving?” he said, amusement ringing in his tone.

Face him, goddamn it. I didn’t want him to know I was afraid of him, of the power and control he managed to rule me with. “Yes, I am.” I jolted up my chin, facing him fully.

He took a step towards me. Instinctively, I took one back. A smirk crossed his smug, preened face. “Are you going to tell me where exactly it is you’re going?”

Fighting against the power he’d always held over me, I answered as firmly as I could. “No, I’m not.” I prayed my tough exterior was more convincing than the pathetic waver I’d heard in my voice. The sound of my heartbeat was thrashing in my ears. I extended my palms to try and relieve the dampness my fear was creating.

Brent preferred, not only to be in charge but to control pitiful women like me. I knew my brief responses would cause him annoyance, but I had no choice. I was leaving Brent, my parents and this life behind.

I watched as his jaw hardened before he moved quickly. He grabbed my arm; his fingers wound tightly around me until he could sense my pain. I closed my eyes briefly, accepting my weakness. “After all I’ve done, you selfish bitch,” he spat at me. His grip turned harder. I willed myself not to cry any more wasted tears. “Don’t look at me with those pathetic, tear stained eyes. I was your only out. You should be thanking me.”

“Thanking you?” I winced at the screeching noise that flew from my mouth. How dare he? I hated him with every cell of my body. How could he believe I owed him anything other than the dirt under my shoe? “Leave me be,” I pleaded, loathing the beaten sound to my voice.

“Oh, I will, Autumn.” He released his grip, the pain was immediately replaced with a stinging throb that I refused to acknowledge. I watched him, in all of his expensive finery, wander across the room towards the door. Revulsion radiated from inside me. He paused before he turned around slowly and addressed me, “Greyston is in your roots, your blood. You will never be anybody without me, or your parents’ money and their stature. You will fail in this life, Autumn, as you already have.” His dark, callous eyes swept the breadth of my body, “Look at yourself and those damn awful clothes. People will pity you when that isn’t what you deserve. You deserve retribution. You can’t hide. People will see you for what you really are. A cold-hearted failure.”

I jolted at the truth behind Brent’s words. Reaching out, I clutched the dresser at my side tightly, in a bid to still my now trembling body. I despised him and all he represented, but I hated him more for truly seeing me. Underneath my clothes, lay the scars and truths that rendered me as the ugliest of them all. Leaving Greyston and the haunting memories was my only option. It wouldn’t ever take away my guilt or erase my shame. That would remain in my heart until the day my final breath left me, but leaving, was the only way I could continue on this earth.

“I will give you your crazed desire for freedom, for now. I will call you when I’m ready, and you will come running back to me, Autumn, I promise. You have no friends left and your parents… well…” his eyebrows raised in amusement as he chuckled, “…they never really cared about you, did they? That’s got to hurt, knowing you’re not good enough even for your parents. You had to settle for Mary, a housekeeper of all things.” Whoa, one step too far. I curled up my hand and flew at him, the need to defend Mary overruling any self-control I had. But he dodged my fist and burst into laughter as I stumbled for balance. “I made you feel alive for the first time in your lonely, sheltered life, and that sickens you.”

I couldn’t respond. His words were true. There had been a point, in the beginning, when I’d been happy, but slowly over time, he ate away at the smallest parts of self-belief I possessed until I accepted his words as my own.

My shoulders sagged with relief as I spied Mary entering the room, her eyes immediately finding mine. As she registered my upset, her jaw clenched before she shifted her attention to Brent. “Mr. McCann, I wasn’t aware you were visiting, it’s been a while,” she said in a clipped tone. If it was at all possible, she held more contempt for him than I did.

“Why, Mary, you’re making me feel old. What happened to calling me, Brent?” Mary hadn’t referred to him by his first name in a number of years. There had been plenty of curse words aimed at him in private, but certainly not the name, Brent.
Turning her head away from him in annoyance, Mary directed her words to me. “Autumn, it’s time for you to go. The car is ready.” My parents’ driver was to take me to the station, where I would board a train to my new life.

“And where might that be to, Mary? Autumn seems to be holding that piece of information back.”
“I am as uncertain as you, Mr. McCann.” Mary knew exactly where I was heading. She’d helped me. My entire life I had only ever been a puppet on a very rigid, unforgiving set of strings, controlled by my parents. I had adhered to each and every one of my parents’ wishes; achieved the grades they required and lived through the heavy-hearted loneliness of the past three years, the worst three years of my life. Mary had seen me through it all and been by my side, on my brief breaks from Hartshead boarding school.

So I was fleeing, beneath a cloud of my parents’ disapproval, but with a sky filled with encouragement from Mary.
Mary looked back at me, a slight hint of a smile pushed at the corners of her mouth, forcing the last ounce of hope to the front of my heart.

“Goodbye, Brent,” I stated calmly.
He curled his lip in amusement before he strolled confidently out of Greyston Manor.
Mary had somehow made it to my side and had taken my hands in her own without me realising it. “Small steps, Autumn. Remember?” Her eyes glistened with the sorrow she felt. “You got to him. Underneath that arrogant face of his, there was fury.” I didn’t want to get to him. I wanted to forget him.

“My parents, they’re not going to be back today, are they?” I asked with a hint of sadness in my tone. Deep down, I knew they wouldn’t be, their daughter leaving home wasn’t a priority. I should be used to it, but I wasn’t. Mary shook her head informing me I wouldn’t be seeing them.

“You’ve accepted your life for what it was for too long a time. Take back what should have been yours all along. Never settle. Fight for what you desire, what you deserve.” Mary’s focus switched to my suitcase. “How about you take a step, Autumn? Life, it’s waiting.” With a final embrace, I moved and collected my suitcase. With my heart pounding, I walked out of the door.

What others are saying

This was a beautifully written book, the attention to detail was perfect it really made me feel like I was living the story rather than just reading it. I became totally invested in Autumn’s well being so much so that I didn’t want the story to end. ~ Literary Lust

I loved Autumns Rise, and reading it I would never have guessed that this is a debut. The writing is superb and I was totally sucked into the story. I just wanted to give both Autumn and Zed a huge hug. It's a heartbreaking story but also a story of hope. ~ Blogging for the love of authors and their books

Deep secrets, hope, heartbreak, survival and twists, laced with humour in between; A BEAUTFUL DEBUT BOOK. The attention to detail and her characters just pulled me right in from the very beginning. ~ Blissfully Bookerized

About The Author

 photo R.G.CORR-Logo_zpstn3ef2sb.jpg

R. G. Corr is a mum of 3 who loves to read almost as much as she does to write. When she's not working or writing, you'll find her nose deep in her kindle swooning over her latest book boyfriend.

Having had an overactive imagination for many years, a discussion with a friend at a soft play area, amidst the noise and mayhem of toddlers, finally convinced her to put pen to paper and write her first novel.

Autumn's Rise, book one in the Haywater series, will be released in February. Book two will follow later in the year.

EXCERPT

“You’re Scottish,” I point out and he stops in his tracks, smiling back at me. Those dimples show again and I begin to feel a little hot.

“That I am. I am here visiting relatives and decided to help out.” I cannot lie, but I find myself gravitating to his accent. It is rather lovely.

“That is very kind of you,” I offer. I’m smiling again and I do not know why, this conversation seems oddly intimate but we are not talking of anything improper. I am acting responsible, even though I am alone with a very handsome man who seems to be affecting me a lot.

“I like to do what I can,” he wipes his hands on his trousers and I take those few seconds to try and calm my beating heart.

“Have you been here long?” I think to ask.

“Not too long, but I am not planning on heading home just yet,” he winks and it sets my heart off again. I place my hand over my heart, and try to fan my face with my hand. He gives me a funny look and I get the feeling he knows the effect he is having on me. He is a very good looking man, he must have many admirers and know the signs of a girl who is appreciative to his handsomeness, “Are you ok?”

He reaches his hand out to me, and when he touches my arm I become very aware of his hand. I swallow thickly, hoping my throat does not sound too dry, “I am little light headed.”

“Would you like to sit down?” He offers, staring down into my eyes and I see that there are so many different shades of blue in his eyes. They are truly beautiful.
