Review for Shadows of the Forest by Emma Michaels: ★★

Shadows of the ForestShadows of the Forest by Emma Michaels

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

::..Reviewed for Red's Midnight Readers..::

I was kindly given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have given it 2 stars.

Shadows Of The Forest is another one of those books that has a blurb that pulls you and makes you want to read it. It promises mystery, intrigue, which is so much more than the book than the book delivers.

The concept of this book is really unique, which is actually one of the things I did really like about this book. However, the delivery I felt wasn't that great. I really struggled getting into the book, the writing style was too slow and to be honest there isn't a lot happening throughout the book and at one point it just felt like there were lots of names just being thrown around, which unfortunately made it difficult to follow.

Unfortunately Shadows Of The Forest failed to captivate my attention, which is a real shame given the uniqueness of the story line, although I feel the plot could have been so much more but lacked any kind of depth.

Sadly it just wasn't for me.

Blurb
Everyone is dying to live in the Shadows of the Forest.
They gave me three rules to follow in exchange for my brother’s life:
1. Do not enter the West Wing;
2. Do not go outside after darkness falls; and
3. There is only one exit; The Gates.

This is what happened when I broke them…
