Excerpt-

Many of the characters in the Josie James series are members of my family.  I have used my late grandad for Elder Kirk and it was like spending time with him again.  This is when Josie first meets him.

 Josie crept silently down the stairs, but forgot that the last step creaked loudly.

“Is that you, Josie?” Nan popped her head round the door and peered into the hallway. “I’m so glad you’re up. There’s someone I want you to meet.”

Josie approached the door with excitement and trepidation running through her. As she walked into the living room she saw a tall man standing with his back towards her, looking out of the window. He was dressed in a high-collared dark green tunic that reached to just above his knees. There was gold embroidery on the collar and around the cuffs in an interlocking square pattern. He wore knee high boots which laced at the back and Josie could just see dark brown trousers tucked inside them. His hair was grey and cut short and neatly into his neck. He looked just like he had stepped out of a history book.

“Hello, Josie,” the mystery man said, turning around.

“But … but….” Josie stammered as her body froze in shock.

“It’s so wonderful to finally meet you.” A huge smile spread across his face. “I’ve been waiting a very long time for this day.” “

Lily Mae Walters chose her pen name in honour of her beloved grandparents who also stare in the Josie James
series.

She is married with two teenage children, and two huskies that are the inspiration behind Murphy and Asher in
the books.

Lily Mae lives in Nuneaton, England and finds herself using local  places and even her old school in her stories.

Family and friends mean the world to Lily Mae and many will find themselves popping up throughout the series.
